Pôle Santé Interfaculty PhD Day 2026 - Call for registration

The Pôle Santé is pleased to announce its Interfaculty PhD Day, which will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. This event aims to federate the ULB Health research ecosystem by bringing together PhD candidates working on health-related topics, as well as Master’s students interested in stepping into research. It offers a unique platform to connect with the broader ULB Health research community, learn about the latest research activities conducted by PhD students, and engage in cross-disciplinary discussions.

Throughout the day, participants will attend keynote lectures, oral presentations by PhD candidates, poster sessions with flash talks, explore posters from ULB Technology platforms, and take part in interactive workshops.

PhD candidates are encouraged to submit an abstract for an oral communication or poster. Scientific awards will be given for the best oral and poster presentations. PhD training credits can be validated by attending this day.

Don’t miss this event to participate, present your work, gain visibility and connect with the ULB Health research community.

Workshops
Workshop 1 "Beyond rules: understanding ethics in your research project"
This workshop aims to identify and address ethical issues from the very start of a research project design. Using case studies and a round table discussion, it encourages critical reflection and provides practical tools to analyse and address complex ethical challenges.
Academia: Franck DEVAUX (Ethicist, Member of the Belgian Advisory Committee on Bioethics, Vice President of the of the Comité Ethique Hospitalo-facultaire Erasme ULB), Hélène FRANCOIS (Member of the Comité Ethique Hospitalo-facultaire Erasme ULB), Virginie PIRARD (President of the Belgian Advisory Committee on Bioethics, Responsible Research and COARA supporting actions, Research Department, ULB).

Industry: Alexandre STOUFFS (Clinical Research Physician – Principal Investigator, Pfizer Clinical Research Unit Brussels).

Workshop 2 "Making your research proposal fundable"
This workshop aims to understand funders' expectations and the key requirements for doctoral research projects. Participants will learn how to make a scientifically relevant project fundable, gaining insights from formal FNRS jury members and successful laureates. Through interactive discussions and a round table, the workshop provides practical guidance to strengthen research proposals and maximise their chances of funding.

Baptiste DETHIER (Observatory of Research & Scientific Careers, FNRS), Rocco GIORDANO (FNRS FRIA Fellow), Mariana IGOILLO ESTEVE (Assistant Prof. at the Center for Diabetes research, ULB Faculty of Medicine), Maxime MELCHIOR (FNRS FRIA Fellow), Dimitri RENMANS (Assistant Prof. at the ULB School of Public Health), Romano REGAZZI (Prof. Emeritus at the University of Lausanne & Scientific collaborator at ULB), Chantal RUFFER (FNRS FRIA Fellow).
