Transgender and gender-diverse youth face persistent social and health difficulties despite increasing visibility and evolving legal frameworks. Understanding the determinants of their well-being therefore remains an important public health challenge. This doctoral research explores how different life environments – including family, educational, healthcare and community settings – shape the well-being of transgender and gender-diverse youth in Belgium. Using a participatory mixed-methods approach, the project integrates the perspectives of young people and family members to better understand their experiences, needs and resources. Ultimately, the research aims to inform the development of more supportive environments and public health strategies.
